Our Previous Quiz...

Our previous location was the intersection formed by Partridge, Fulton and Broadway Sts. The businesses here in 1968 were Rahall's Food Market (Charles & Betty Rahall), and Joe's Barber Shop (Joseph Berardi).

We received the following comments...

[ Don Claypool ] coming from the other side of the river I don't know this area much.

[ Shirl ] Rahalls used to be inthe building the little red one was or still is a barber shop

[ Jenny ] Barber shop, the old Rahall's Grocery, the old Tom Holleran's Speed Shop. I lived around the corner on Henry St. One of the best neighborhoods to grow up in when we were kids. Most of us all got along well too! Wow I love that place.

[ Donald Sherman ] On the corner of Broadway and Fulton is Charlie Rahall's Market, later to become McClures Market, now closed. Charlie's place being an old neighborhood store was hard to replace with new owners. Across the street from Rahall's on Partridge and Fulton is Tony' Barber Shop. A place to solve the world's and Elmira's problems and get your hair cut.

[ Don Vesneske ] Rahalls Market

[ Glenn ] McClure'saets ison the point and a barber shop is across the stret

[ David D. ] I DONT REMEMBER THE STREET BUT TONYS BARBER SHOP AND THE OLD RAYHALLS CONVINENT STORE ACCROSS THE STREET THAT I KNOW FOR A FACT...RIGHT AND PC SCHOOL UP THE STREET ......GOOD TIMES

[ Dave K. - Elmira ] old rahalls store, opposite corner is a barber shop

[ Stump ] Rahall's Market, most of my misspent youth was on that corner.

[ Missy ] I grew up in this neighborhood and went to St. Mary's Elementary School just up the street. The small red building is the barber shop. The green building was McClure's.

[ Mike P. ] the light green building use to be macluries meat market. the little red building i think it still a barber shop.

[ Dick (hang glider) Dalton ] Tony's barber shop, old Rahall's grocery, later McClure's Deli, & Horton's Paint store was behind it.

[ Kelli Tucker ] As usual, it's the last minute entry, even though I knew what the location was last Sunday night! The small red brick building is a barber shop and across the street used to be McClure's.

Note: All photo locations will be within Chemung County.

This week's location is by request, and probably a bit harder than some. Identify as many streets/roads as you can in photo below, and any structures you can identify; the results and a new location will be posted next Sunday morning. Keep in mind that images are not necessarily with north at the top.
